1. Â What is a domain?
A domain is like the address to your home but in this case your online home – your website or blog. Example: of domain names: www.salonsofcanada.com, www.gogreeninternational.ca.  Your domain name starts after the www. Eg “Salonsofcanada” you can choose .com, .org, .net, .tv, ca. as the extension. You can secure a domain for your business for  as low a $USD10.99 good for one year. We will take care of that for you.
2. What is domain hosting?
Domain hosting is service that displays your website online for the world to see. Without hosting your site will not be visible to anyone and would remain on your local hard drive and only visible to you. To get your site hosted you will be required to pay a fee to a hosting company. This fee varies and can be as low as $7.99 to as high as $59 monthly. Hosting services are not made equal. Some fees includes support, maintenance and updates while other offer no support, upgrade or maintenance. Be informed on what your fees include before you commit to any hosting plan.
3.When do you need domain hosting?
We get asked this question a lot. The rule of thumb is this : You only need hosting when your site is built and ready to be launched. You do not need to purchase hosting when you purchase your domain name. Many many domain resellers bundle domain purchase with hosting – that is not wise unless you have a site already built and about to be launched – you are wasting your money. Purchase hosting only until you are ready to launch your site. If you currently have hosting on domains that are just parked you may want to cancel that hosting until you need it.
4. Why do you need domain hosting?
You need hosting to display your site on the internet. Please see answers above for more information.
5. What is a domain and why do I have to pay for it each year?
A domain simply put – is your address for your online property (your website). You need to renew your registration for it each year otherwise it will expire and you will have no address for your website. You can however renew it for more than one year which is usually more affordable.
6. What if I want to change something on my site after you have made it for me – do you charge for that?
For errors etc we will make corrections for you at no extra cost for your first 30 days.
We also give you one free update per month after your free-30-day ends.   We will make your changes then and at no extra cost to you.
7. What is the Annual Cost -After site is Built?
In a nutshell your ONLY two cost each year to keep your site on the internet are:
a. domain renewal for up to $14.99 and
b. hosting your site $99 plus taxes – a total of approximately $120 annually.  It cost about $10 per month to have your site ongoing. You simply cannot find a better value for your advertising dollar.
8. Is  5 pages good enough for a website?
Absolutely! We wouldn’t be offering if it was not sufficient for you. If you plan to sell items from your site – then you will need a different website solution and we can create a e-commerce custom site for you. Please contact. We don’t play games with our clients, we will not upsell you after you purchase.  What we offer additional is OPTIONAL and NO attempt will be made by our staff to encourage you to purchase. Our motto is – Buy only what you need.
9. Get I get flash on my site?
- Yes -but at additional cost. However, many clients stated that customers complain that when they visit flash sites at work the sound (music) creates undue attention from their co-workers and management.
10. Can I load music and video to my site ?
Yes – you can.
11. Can I add more pages to my site  if I need to?
Yes – We can add a page to your site for a one time fee of only $19.99
12. Can I get the photo-gallery anytime after my site is up?
Yes, we can add your photo gallery whenever you need it. We prefer that you have all your photographs ready at the time you order your photo gallery.
13. What is the difference between hosting and domain?
Domain is (as stated above) your website address example www.salonsofcanada.ca. This is what visitors will type in their browser to find you. Your domain is unique to YOU no one else can have the EXACT address – they can have similar but not exact.  Example someone could purchase a domain similar to the one above such as www.salonsofcanada.com they are similar but NOT exact one is .ca and the other .com.
Hosting is a service you will need to keep your site visible on the internet. It you do not have hosting no one will know about your site and it will be only accessible to you on your hard drive. It is pointless to make a site and not have it hosted.
15. Do I have to get hosting when I purchase my domain?
NO! You only need hosting when your site is built and ready to launch. We can purchase your domain for you.
16. What if I don’t have a domain can I still get a website?
YES! You can get a site built on someones domain – in other words you are piggy-backing on someone else’s domain. The proper description is that your site is a sub-domain. Example: Let’s say you have a spa called sharon’s spa – You could get a site on the domain of salonsofcanada.ca as follows: www.salonsofcanada.ca/sharonsspa. This is not recommended because you do not own your site in this situation and it makes you vulnerable. If salons of canada decides not to continue in business your site will be lost to you. It is always recommended to get your own domain and since the cost of a domain is so so in-expensive you should get your own.
17. How long does it take to have my website ready?
It depends on your method of payment and if ALL information is provided. It typically takes 5 - 7 days for paypal clients. For payment by cheque it take about 15 – 21 days to allow for payment clear.
18. Do I have to maintain and update my site myself?
Oh No - we take care of maintenance and upkeep of your site. We offer you one free update per month. We take care of your site so that you are free to take care of your clients.
19. What if I want more than 5 pages?
We offer multiple pages sites you can select for 5 – 20 pages. We do offer unlimited pages too for additional cost. Most small business  will not likely require more than 10 pages, therfore do not purchase more than you need.
20. Do you come to our business location to take photos?
YES & NO.
NO.  We don’t personally provide photography services. Because the price is SO economical we cannot provide such service for the price we charge. We suggest that you get a reasonably priced Cannon digital camera and take photos for your site. Taking before and after photos are great for visitors to your site to see your level of skill this is a must for salons, bodyshops etc. Please make sure you have your clients sign permission for you to use their photos on your site. Webuildsmallbusinesswebsites.com assumes that any photo submitted by small business owners for use on their sites are authorized for use by the subjects.

21.  I have seen websites offered where I don’t have to have my own domain? Why do I have to get one?
Please see #16.  I will expand a bit for you. Your domain is like the title to your property you are a homeowner. Without your own domain you are like  a tenant with a lease. Don’t worry about getting a domain – webuild smallbusinesswebsites will secure a domain for you – owned by you. With us you are a homeowner!
22. Can I do some updates on my site myself?
Yes you can. Just let us know and we will provide you with the details. Most business owners however are way too busy running their businesses they do not want to be bothered with running their website as well.
23. What size website is right for my business?
This really depends on what your business is selling. For example – if you operate an auto-body repair shop you will likely need less pages than a beauty supplies store that offers hundreds of items in their online inventory. From our experience 5 – 10 pages will be more than sufficient for most businesses.
24. Do you provide content like articles for the sites you build?
Yes – we do provide some PLR (Private Label Rights) articles for you. These articles once purchased becomes yours, you can add, delete, change the title and do just about anything with it. We purchase these articles in bulk in many many categories such as health, beauty, finance, business, arts and entertainment, computers and Technology, travel, self improvement etc, chances are if you require a specific category we can find it for you. We charge only $1.20 per article.
